Affinity Mapping

I conducted one-on-one user interviews to identify key themes, patterns, and pain points. Based on the outcome, I created a ‘User Persona’.

Behaviours

"Right now, the content of what I get from the school is mostly about just giving me reports. I get updates on what’s being covered in class and see my kids’ grades, but there's no way for me to ask about my child's individual progress. "

"I’m often stuck waiting for a chance to talk about how my kid is behaving in class, or I only hear about problems after something serious has already happened. Otherwise, I’m just waiting around for an email from the teacher or some formal communication from the school."

Pain Points

"As a parent, it's frustrating not being able to reach out to teachers when I need to. I wish there were more opportunities for regular communication to stay connected with what's happening in my child's education."

“I’m having a hard time keeping up with school updates. I need a simpler way to stay connected with my child’s education.”

Goals and Motivations

"If I had the opportunity, I would like to know more about everything done in the classroom, especially about public speaking, and leadership skills, to understand how my kid is doing and how the school supports these areas."

"It’d be great if teachers could share how my child’s doing in class, how they’re getting along with others, and any behavior changes they’ve noticed. I’d also appreciate updates on extracurriculars, school events, and tips for helping out at home."

Experience Mapping

Here, I have mapped Mrs. Johnson's journey to discovering the app. This will help me as a designer to empathize with my persona and identify the key challenges/pain points.
